Pilot call for proposals LSN NetzWerkstatt to strengthen research cooperation and open up new fields of research

Leipzig is a hub for science and research, characterised by a high density and diversity of universities and non-university research institutions, offering great potential for interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research. The Leipzig Science Network (LSN) is the joint network of universities and research institutions in Leipzig and the surrounding area. It promotes cooperation, develops synergies in research, transfer and infrastructure, and strengthens the national and international visibility of Leipzig as a centre of science.

What is being funded?

The LSN is a platform for developing new research topics across institutions that have the potential to grow into larger collaborative projects. With the pilot call for proposals ‘LSN NetzWerkstatt’, the LSN is promoting the initiation of research collaborations. The aim of the funding is to connect researchers from corresponding subject areas and to develop new joint research topics. Topics that are relevant to as many departments and institutions as possible are particularly welcome.

Funding is available for workshops that serve to promote cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary networking and bring together researchers from LSN member institutions to discuss an innovative research topic. Funding covers a maximum of EUR 2,000 for event costs (e.g. room rental, catering, fees).

If funding is approved, the approved amount is not paid out to the applicants as a cash sum. Instead, the LSN finances the measures planned and approved in the application directly in consultation with the applicants.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to postdoctoral researchers from institutions that are full members of the Leipzig Science Network. Applications must be submitted jointly by individuals from at least two different full members of the network. Applications involving more than two full members may be given priority in the selection process.

Required application documents
